The culmination of Spring Week 2026 at Lasell University will feature an extra-special spring concert with a new twist.
The Campus Activities Board will stage Spring Week from Monday, April 13, to Monday, April 20 — which is Patriots Day, a holiday for the campus. The week will be capped by a free outdoor concert by SoFaygo, the event taking place on North Quad at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 20.
Patriots Day is always special on the Lasell campus, as the Boston Marathon passes by on Washington Street, just before the reace turns onto Commonwealth Avenue at the firehouse for the start of Newton hills.
“This is all credit to Jenna Sargent and her brilliant mind,” said Campus Activities Board co-president Jacob Lustig. “We are having our spring concert on the same day as Marathon Monday. Other institutions nearby love to do concerts on this day, but we have never really done it as a school, so having the marathon as a kind of viewing event down on Commonwealth, and then utilizing the Arnow Quad, which is used for a social gathering on Marathon, but giving it more of a purpose of that concert venue, is going to be really exciting.
“It was something we didn’t really think we could do, and thanks to the senior management team and the team we have on the campus activities board, it was possible, and we’re excited to do it.”
SoFaygo’s breakthrough hit was the release of his certified-platinum single “Knock Knock” in 2019. SoFaygo is known to be a pioneer in blending elements of melodic trap music with plug-in production.
Through his early products of “4 and Angelic 7,” the 2020 mixtape “After Me,” and the 2022 breakout album “Pink Hearts” (which featured Ken Carson), he paved the way for the release of his highly anticipated comeback “Mixtape Mania” in 2026.
Sargent, CAB’s vice president of Tunes, Tournaments, and Trips, worked with SoFaygo to book him and looks forward to the new sound he will add to campus, especially on Marathon Monday.
“Rap is exciting, but I also think rap is the kind of genre that you might not know every song from the artist, or you might not even know the artist’s name, but their energy during a show is going to be what people remember,” Sargent said. “I mean, people on Marathon Monday are already super excited and have a lot of energy. So I think playing off of the audience, matching the energy of the artist, is going to be good.
“And I hope that they can continue to do outdoor concerts. I’ve been wanting to do one since my freshman year. It was really difficult. And it’s still as difficult. I still have meetings, but it’ll all be good.
“We’re going through a collaboration with the Campus Police and the Senior Management Team, who are really excited about it. And I think they’ve been wanting to kind of do something bigger for the Marathon.”
Campus Activities Board co-president Savanah Brooks added that the team on CAB tries to stay fresh and add artists the whole student body will enjoy.
“We’ve done very different things in the past years. Last year, we had Mason Ramsey, and that was country, twang, and it was completely different,” Brooks said. “And I think a good, main thing with Lasell is, there’s a little bit of everything here, there’s a little bit of everybody, and everybody has their own passion, their own interest.
“And bringing in this artist, it’s catering to a different group of people at Lasell. And every year, I think our goal is to kind of make sure everyone feels included in some way, and I think he’s a new artist and a new style for us to bring on campus to kind of try to showcase that.”
Sargent and Samantha Carvelli have been working to secure an artist for the spring concert since the summer of 2025.
“So I would say it was definitely challenging because we did have some ups and downs during the whole thing. We resolved those problems, and now we’re on a roll,” Carvelli said.
Sargent shared the same sentiment.
“The artist had something come up for the original day that we were going to use, and instead of deciding to go with somebody else, we still wanted to stick with him,” Sargent said. “So we decided to kind of accommodate and find another day, and with all the schedules of the people on CAB, the only day that we really all had free at the end of April was the Boston Marathon. It’s a busy day, but I think we’re still going to be enjoying our marathons. I mean, it’s my last one, so we’re not going to be solely focused on all business that day.”
Brooks added that for her (and her fellow CAB seniors) that this spring concert will be a great culmination of their four years with the orginization.
“I think it’s really exciting and it’s a really good way for all of us seniors on CAB to go out with a big concert outside on one of the best days on campus,” Brooks said.
