If you’ve been paying attention to Lasell baseball lately, one thing is pretty clear: This team can hit.
Under their new head coach, Matt Sammarco, the Lasers are starting to find an identity, and it’s built around offense, pressure, and just making things happen every inning. They’re not sitting back waiting for the perfect pitch; they’re attacking early, putting the ball in play, and forcing defenses to make mistakes. And so far, it’s working.
Lasell’s lineup has been one of the most exciting parts of the season. They’ve been putting up runs consistently, and more importantly, it’s coming from multiple guys, not just one star carrying the load.

Connor Freitas has been one of the biggest standouts so far. He’s shown real power at the plate and has already had some big RBI moments, including leaving the yard. He’s the kind of hitter who can change a game with one swing.
Braelen Silva and Declan Silva have both been super reliable, too. They’re the type of players who just keep getting on base, extending innings, and setting the tone at the top and middle of the lineup. Every time they step up, something feels like it’s about to happen.
And then there’s Tim Callahan, who’s been a really important piece in the lineup. He brings a steady approach at the plate, not trying to do too much, just putting together quality at-bats and coming through when needed. Whether it’s working a count, moving a runner, or coming up with a timely hit, he’s doing all the little things that don’t always show up in the box score but matter a lot.
What makes this offense dangerous is how consistent it feels. It’s not just one big inning here or there; it’s pressure every single inning, and that wears teams down over the course of a game.
While the offense has been grabbing attention, a couple of arms from the Lasell roster are starting to make a real impact, too.

Ty Lohsen has been a steady presence on the mound. He brings experience, throws strikes, and doesn’t get rattled easily. In games where things could spiral, he’s the kind of pitcher who slows everything down and keeps Lasell right where they need to be. That reliability is huge, especially in conference play. His season so far is highlighted by accomplishing the third no-hitter in Lasell Baseball history
Chase Supan is more of that emerging arm with upside. You can see the confidence building with each outing. He’s shown he can handle pressure situations and get key outs when needed. As he continues to develop, he could become a really important piece of this staff down the stretch.
Together, they give Lasell a solid foundation, one guy who’s already dependable and another who’s still rising. If the rest of the pitching staff follows that trend, this team becomes even more dangerous.
Playing at Kezer Field in Melrose has also been a big plus. It gives the team a legit home base, and you can already see the comfort level building.
There’s more energy, more confidence, and it just feels like a place where they can build something. The team looks more settled, and when you combine that with their offensive firepower, Kezer Field is quickly becoming a tough place for opponents to come in and win.
As the calendar flips to April, things are only going to get more interesting. This is when conference play really starts to matter, and every game has a little more weight to it.
Lasell has a stretch of games coming up that will really test them, back-to-back conference matchups, doubleheaders, and chances to build momentum in the standings. If the offense keeps producing the way it has and the pitching continues to stabilize, they’re in a good position to stack wins.
April is also when you start to see teams define themselves. Are they just competitive, or are they contenders? For Lasell, this next stretch is a real opportunity to prove they can be more than just a high-scoring team; they can be a team that closes games and wins consistently.
