Lasell students have received letters from the university on behalf of President Turner’s office. Within these letters is the news that Lasell’s tuition and housing rates are going up, as well as the addition of a student fee, all beginning next academic year.
The total cost of tuition for the 2026-2027 academic year without financial aid, as approved by the Lasell University Board of Trustees, will be $30,280. This is nearly $2,000 more than the tuition for the 2025-2026 academic year, which was $28,392.
The range of housing costs has been raised as well. The housing cost for the majority of students was $14,742. This cost could be up to $18,732, depending on the style of building and whether or not they had a single room. For the 2026-2027 school year, this range has increased to approximately $15,722 – $19,669. The estimated new total for a full-time live on campus student is estimated to be $46,002 per year.
Andrew Maylor, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, said this when concerns were raised about tuition and housing increases, “We recognize that affordability is a central concern for students and families, and we continue to focus on providing resources to ensure that a Lasell education remains affordable and accessible. We encourage students to connect with the Offices of Financial Aid and Student Accounts to explore the full range of financial support available to them.”
The next cost is the new Student Service Fee of $675. The letter explained the changes being made or already made to the campus.
Upgrades ranging from the new fitness room in Butterworth Hall, staff relocation to the library for easier access, improvements to the Victorian houses on campus, renovations to Yamawaki Theater, and the Donahue Center for Creative and Applied Arts, more dining options, more parking spaces, and the commitment to campus-wide Wi-Fi upgrades.
President of Lasell University Eric Turner said, “I understand that any increase in tuition, housing, or fees raises questions for students and their families. These decisions are never made lightly. As an institution, our responsibility is to balance affordability with the investments needed to ensure Lasell students live and learn on a campus that meets our high standards.”
Tuition is rising across all universities, not just Lasell. Turner said, “Lasell remains one of the most affordable private four-year institutions in New England. We will continue to offer financial aid so that a Lasell education is accessible to all students who wish to pursue it.”
There, we also have concerns that the price rise had to do with Lasell’s New Tuition Commitment. In which new first-time incoming Lasell Students with households making under $100,000 with full tuition coverage, however, Maylor confirmed this is not the case, “Lasell University remains committed to making the strategic investments necessary to sustain a high-quality student experience, including support for campus facilities, technology enhancements, and student programming funded through tuition and the Student Service Fee. Due to increasing operational costs affecting colleges and universities across the country, the cost of attendance for the 2026-27 academic year has been adjusted accordingly.”
