As the fall semester begins to wrap up, students are reflecting on their busy on-campus lives that are full of classes, projects, and various activities.
Junior elementary education major Mylena Bovo has been working on a semester-long project for the education department.
“I am working this semester to adapt the Collaboration Recognition Program to fit elementary schools and implement them into elementary school classrooms,” Bovo said. “It’s a program that is designed to bring collaboration into classrooms at Lasell by identifying areas of strengths and weaknesses based on the nine keys of collaboration. It is designed to prepare you for your professional but also personal life.”
Bovo will be continuing to help integrate this into education departments around the area in the spring semester. “I’m looking forward to next semester co-facilitating the Collaboration Recognition Program with Professor Amy Maynard,” Bovo said.
First-year sports communications major Julio Vasquez says joining a club that he is passionate about has changed his perspective about Lasell, “Joining the radio station has led me to meet great mentors who are willing to help me go- ing forward,” he said. “Then I got recruited to join the sports broadcasting team, which has been amazing. Calling my first basketball game for the Lasers felt great. I didn’t see myself being a commentator before but now it is something I am passionate about.”
Senior communications major Kayla Popovich, completed her first year as president of Professor Kurt Wirth’s digital engagement group.
“This group is a practicum and a club in which students learn about digital communications agency operations while working on accounts for real clients,” Popovich said. “As president, I coordinated with our Instagram and TikTok accounts that we run on campus, scheduled and ran weekly meetings, tracked insights and conducted research to help our accounts continue to grow.”
Popovich also played a pivotal role in the musical this semester in the fall musical.
